the letdown

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and here I am. Idle. The extended weekend was packed with days of family fun, and now that it's over, well... let's just say regaining full speed was challenging today. It's a bittersweet feeling. I've had my fill, and I know they've had enough of me, but I'm still missing them and counting down the days until our next big celebration.

Tomorrow, however, is a new day. Fresh. And there are many things on the horizon to lift my spirits: Joel's commencement, tree cutting, Christmas decorating and shopping. And strangely, the consistency of everyday routines are what satisfy me most. Groceries on Monday, storytime on Tuesday, MOPS on Wednesday, and the week goes on.

Here's some snapshots of our good times. I didn't realize until later that most of our Thanksgiving weekend photos were of Morgan and her uncles. Loves her uncles.

video time

Back around the 4th of July, Morgan decided to try her hand at climbing stairs at Jessica's apartment when we visited her in Chicago. Since then we never really gave Morgan the opportunity to practice climbing. Part of the reason is we don't like to hang out in our basement. It's just not the nicest of places to spend time. The other reason is that our steps seem more dangerous than Jessica's since they aren't carpeted. Now that it's cold outside we have been utilizing our basement a little more to play and hang out and thought it was time to see if Morgan wanted to climb up the stairs. She didn't miss a beat. She picked right up where she left off back in July....

Morgan also has a couple favorite songs she likes to sing and dance to. They are Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and If You're Happy & You Know It......

Morgan is still Morgan, however, and can lose interest in things fast. Watch and you'll see what I mean. Props to mommy for her persistence...

hallandale highlights

Life as I know it is back to normal. I returned home from Florida on Tuesday afternoon, loaded with tons of great pictures and memories. Here's the highlights:

My view from first class! I volunteered to take a flight to Miami instead of Fort Lauderdale (only a five minute departure difference and an extra 10 minute drive for Sarah). And what did I get myself? A seat in first class and a $300 voucher to use on another flight. Plus free food, my beverage in a real glass, and oh, the leg room!

Dinner at Sarah and Doug's is anything by ordinary. With a view and warm breezes, a basic meal becomes so much more!

Oh, yeah. And the reason for my visit?
My lovely new nephew, Luke.

trick or treat

Halloween was different this year. Morgan dressed up for the first time, was accepting of her tutu, and enjoyed the mild temperatures (mid-60s!). And we only had 74 kids come to the door, so our candy rationing left us with more than we expected. Here's some photos from the evening.
