daddy daughter dance

Tonight is our church and school's Daddy Daughter Dance. It's Morgan's first ever. As I write this, the boys are sleeping and I am waiting for the return arrival of the two-some, anxious to hear Morgan's perspective on the night, and then later, Scott's.

Before leaving, I was "that mom" and took way too many photos of our sweet six year old. So grown up already. I'm not sure if it's the hair, the dress, or the bare feet with ballet flats, but Morgan has a maturity about her tonight that took me by surprise. She's beautiful, don't you think?

Here she is making her grand entrance for Scott to see, all done up.

I asked them to pose for a photo. And Morgan wrapped her arms around Scott's waist as best she could and gave a squeeze. She loves her daddy.

And then Andrew needed his own picture.

After that, I went a little overboard with the camera, trying to capture Morgan while she wasn't looking.

Shoes malfunctioning. I am certain I will get a report on how well the shoes performed tonight at the dance.

Showing off her nail polish. Those eyes of hers are so blue.

I hope this is a night to remember for both of them. A newly started tradition.

And there's the garage door lifting. Let the listening begin!

orange man

Matthew is in love with root vegetables. Specifically, orange root vegetables. Carrots and sweet potatoes rank high on his list of likes, with parsnips making the grade despite their white color. Butternut squash is a hit, too. Consequently, Matthew's little nose and cheeks have taken on their color. We knew it would happen eventually. But it wasn't until I captured these pictures on Sunday and looked at him digitally that I realized his coloring had changed on the tip of his nose and apples of his cheeks. Subtle, but definitely turning orange.

I was in the middle of making dinner when Matthew woke up from his nap. Andrew asked if he could go in and see him. Knowing that it would appease Matthew for the few more minutes I needed, I told Andrew, "Sure, you can go in there."

Cute baby-talk from Andrew to Matthew was all I heard. And then, "Mommy, I'm in Matthew's bed!"  Oh boy.

while waiting

As the toaster browns, Morgan reads. Just can't get enough!

spring break

Instead of staying home like usual, this year's spring break took us to Virginia to visit Sarah, Doug, Luke and Will. A visit that was well-worth the distance.

Our drive began at 6:00 a.m. By 9:00 we were surprising the big kids with DVD players that I found on clearance at Target. Score!

Sarah had homemade pizza for us when we arrived. Plus there was a belated birthday celebration for Morgan.

We spent our days playing...

sightseeing...

learning...

And enjoying each other...

Coming home from trips like these is never fun. The road is always longer on the way back. And the idea of rejoining the regular routines doesn't excite me. Instead I think about the memories made, time spent together and how many days until we'll see each other again. It be soon enough! Missing you already...
