ready for take-off

I'm getting ready to leave town to attend a conference in St. Louis all next week with several people from our church. Why? In the hopes that we can come back and launch a new small group program in our congregation. Scott is even joining me half-way through the week just for the visit. While we're there, Scott and I will also see some of my favorite relatives... second cousins that are more like first (and then some)!

See you in May...

easter from across the miles

Here's some photos that Sarah and Doug took on Easter Sunday from Alexandria. Such beautiful weather, beautiful flowers and a beautiful couple! They had their friends over for church and dinner, and looks like some bocci ball in the courtyard...

Looks like ice cream on a cold stone...

easter weekend photos

This is a photo-review of our Easter weekend. I know there are lots of pictures, but we had a ton of fun. Here's Saturday morning at my parents doing our annual beeswax egg tradition...

And enjoying the warm weather in the backyard...

Famous Saturday afternoon bread...

Saturday evening at the Nelson's...
Are you seeing a sports theme?

Sunday after church...

Oh, the enthusiasm... Sunday's egg hunt...

my sister is so awesome

Sarah and Doug participated in the Cherry Blossom Run a couple weeks ago in Washington, DC. They are so cool!

closet makeover

At Scott's request, here are some pictures of last weekend's closet remodel of the guest/front bedroom (for some reason, I can't get him into this blogging thing). I don't really think the pictures do it justice... we went from a previous homeowner's idea of organized living to our structurally-sound, pretty-painted and Rachel-organized closet.

This photo was taken on the day of our inspection, back in May of 2004. So... this is not our stuff in the closet. You can see that Dave-the-handyman owner attempted to build onto the existing standard closet shelf. It was very sloppy and unstable.

We failed to get out the camera during demo. But this is the finished product after spackle, primer, paint and installation. And let me just tell you... the color is courtesy of an "oops" can at Lowe's for just $5.

We can actually fit a ton of stuff in here, even though I look at this picture now and realize what a small closet this really is. Those are Scott's shirts, and I've got some dresses on the far right, hidden by the door. And the rest will be excess blankets, pillows and other linens.

opening day

Today's the day, right Doug?

I always think of my brother-in-law on Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers. With such a great record (I believe they are currently 5-1), let's hope the streak continues! Scott and I will see them play the Cubs in June when we visit friends in Chicago. Go Tigers!

I also happened to come across this... a personal weblog on everything Tigers...
