catch-up: September

Here, the first of many memories revisited from the last four months.

September did not get the attention it deserved.

Labor Day weekend was glorious. We overstayed our welcome at the beach that Sunday. As the day wore on, the Bigs warmed up to the water and became braver with each passing minute. No one wanted to say good-bye.

Matthew was toddling, nearly walking alone, and exploring everything. Andrew was enjoying the warm weather and adventures outside. And Morgan, well, Morgan was in first grade all day, and all of our family togetherness happened after school, in the evenings or on the weekend.

The good ol' Detroit Lions were back in action, reigniting Andrew's love of football and the fascination of slow-motion replays. "I will take you down" became his motto as he reenacted each play.

At the end of September, we said a collective goodbye to a very special place in our family history. One that I intend to pay tribute to when more time permits because it deserves to be shared, recalled, and passed on in a special and meaningful way.
