After years of discussion and debate, the time has come to take down the upper half of our back deck. The former owners used that space to house their hot tub, and we have not used it at all. Trapping heat and preventing breezes made it nothing more than wasted space. As well as an inviting residence for rodents. Last year's skunk capture was enough for me. So down it finally has come!
The first phase was to remove the fencing pieces and the front "apron" boards. We lose some privacy, but love our immediate neighbor to the east. I am hopeful that Phase Two (ripping off the deck boards and framework) reveals an easy to work with turf below!
