Winter Solstice. When the cold days seems to stack up, when there's no end in sight of winter, when I'm tired of being cooped up, this is my benchmark. Dinnertime will be brighter, days will lengthen, we are on the upswing. Today is the turnaround.

Winter Solstice came with a bang here in Denver. I'd say we got at least 10in. We will have a white christmas after all!!!
I'm pretty sure this is my most favorite day of the year for the reason you mention! Glad someone else shares the same outlook :-)
